FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • AIM sources authentic historical aircraft materials from a variety of specialist aviation suppliers, collectors, retirement programmes, aircraft parting facilities and international auctions around the world.

All of the aircraft components used within our watches originate from retired aircraft with documented operational histories and registrations.

In certain cases, AIM acquires aviation artefacts through globally recognised auction houses and aviation memorabilia sales. For example, components used within our upcoming Concorde project were sourced from original British Airways Concorde artefacts sold through auctions including DoveBid.

Because of the historical nature of these materials, every aircraft insert carries its own unique markings, texture, patina, and character, making every AIM watch slightly different from the next.

At AIM, our goal is to preserve pieces of aviation history and give legendary aircraft a second life through mechanical watchmaking.

Orders are dispatched direct from our workshop in La Chaux De Fonds, Switzerland, and delivery is made by DHL or FEDEX, signed on receipt.

  • In-stock products are typically dispatched within one (1) business day.

Due to the bespoke and limited-production nature of AIM products, including custom engravings, personalized configurations, and pre-order pieces, fulfilment timelines may vary.

Current made-to-order and pre-order models typically require approximately 30 days for production and dispatch unless otherwise stated.

Customers are strongly encouraged to contact AIM prior to purchase to confirm stock availability and estimated delivery timelines in order to avoid potential delays.

All delivery estimates are approximate and not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to manufacturing schedules, supplier availability, customs processing, or courier disruptions beyond AIM’s reasonable control.

Typical delivery times via DHL and Fedex:

    • USA - 3-5 Days

    • EU - 3-5 Days

    • Middle East 3-7 Days

    • Rest of World - 5-7 Days

Occasionally a parcel can be slightly delayed by customs, as disappointing as this can be, it is outside of our control and we thank you for your patience.

If you have any concerns about custom delays, email info@aimwatches.com and we will make enquires on your behalf.

  • Yes. Absolutely.  If you change your mind, eligible products may be returned within 14 days of delivery, provided the watch is:

    • unworn,

    • unused,

    • free from scratches or damage,

    • and returned in its original packaging with all protective materials, accessories, documentation, and tags included.

Due to the bespoke and limited-production nature of AIM products, the following items are non-returnable unless faulty:

    • custom engraved watches,

    • personalized or made-to-order pieces,

    • special commissions,

    • and products modified at the customer’s request.

Because many AIM watches incorporate reclaimed aircraft materials, natural markings, tonal variation, patina, and material characteristics are considered part of the individuality of the product and are not grounds for return as defects.

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs, duties, taxes, insurance, and safe packaging during return transit unless otherwise required by law.

All returns must be approved by AIM prior to shipment. Please contact info@aimwatches.com with your order number before sending any item back.

Once received and inspected, approved refunds are typically processed within 7 business days. Depending on your financial institution, refunds may take additional time to appear in your account.

  • Yes, although AIM watches are typically delivered on premium leather or sailcloth straps, we can provide stainless steel bracelets for customers who prefer a metal strap configuration.

As many AIM releases are produced in limited quantities and may use different case configurations, bracelet availability can vary depending on the model.

If you would like your watch supplied with a stainless steel bracelet, please contact us prior to purchase and we will advise available options, pricing, and compatibility for your chosen piece.

  • AIM offers custom engraving on selected models, including caseback engravings, commemorative text, initials, dates, aircraft registrations, and other personalized details depending on available space and design compatibility.

Because many AIM watches are created as highly personal aviation heirlooms, engraving is a popular option for gifts, retirements, milestones, and commemorative occasions.

Please contact us prior to ordering to discuss engraving options, character limits, artwork compatibility, pricing, and production timelines.

    Please note:

    • Engraved or personalized watches may require additional production time.

    • Custom engraved products are considered bespoke items and may not be eligible for return or exchange unless faulty.

  • An automatic watch is a mechanical timepiece powered by movement rather than a battery.

Inside the watch is a complex system of springs, gears, and precision-engineered mechanical components working together to measure time. As you wear the watch throughout the day, the natural motion of your wrist causes a weighted rotor inside the movement to rotate. This rotor automatically winds the mainspring, storing energy which powers the watch.

Unlike quartz watches, automatic watches do not rely on electronic circuits or batteries. Instead, they are powered entirely through mechanical engineering and craftsmanship.

  • The AIM Alpha Series and Beta Series are powered by the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, a highly respected mechanical calibre known for its reliability, durability, and smooth sweeping seconds hand.

Automatic movements use energy generated by the natural motion of your wrist. As the watch moves, a weighted rotor inside the movement rotates and continuously winds the mainspring, powering the watch without the need for a battery.

Because mechanical movements are precision mechanical devices, accuracy can vary depending on factors such as:

    • wearing habits,

    • movement position,

    • temperature,

    • magnetism,

    • and how fully wound the watch is.

The Sellita SW200-1 is typically regulated within an expected range of approximately +/- 12-30 seconds per day under normal conditions, although many examples may perform more accurately (usually +/-4-8 seconds per day) depending on regulation and usage.
